Decorative bowls from tires
Durable and delicate salvaged scooter tires and delicate rattan weaving from rural Vietnam. Reclaimed tires and an ancient rattan weaving tradition? This unlikely marriage of durable and delicate is exactly what makes these decorative bowls so stunning.
Designed by Estudio Campana and handcrafted by skilled artisans from rural Vietnam, these gorgeous bowls are a collaboration of Vietnamese non-profit Craft Link, Artecnica, Hai Tai rattan weavers, and Hmong women weavers.
During assembly, disadvantaged Vietnamese youth are provided with artisan training and a framework by which they can establish sustainable livelihoods.
Aiming to develop competitive products that will encourage the survival of indigenous crafts, Estudio Campana believes that fulfilling this mission requires a smart designer, a savvy and visionary project producer, and a willing and ambitious artisan.
The line is part of Artecnica’s Design with Conscience program, whose mission is to promote self-sustaining communities of talented artisans in underdeveloped countries. Their humanitarian approach supports shared work and profit across borders, cultures, races, and religions.
